Iran inaugurated the first phase of Persian Gulf Star Refinery in May, but it is still working with half capacity.

The first phase is aimed to produce 12 million liters per day (ml/d) of gasoline, but it is producing only a half of this volume due to financial problems in completing that, CEO of the project Mortaza Amani told Shana Aug.12.

He added that the cumulative output of refinery has reached 320 ml as of now, of which 280 ml was delivered to markets.

Amani added that currently 77,000 barrels per day of gas condensate is refined at this plant and the first phase would become fully operational to process 120,000 b/d in a week.

The refinery also has produced 464 ml of naphtha and 470 ml of gas oil as of now.

Iran plans to complete all three phases of Persian Gulf Star Refinery, aimed to process 360,000 b/d of gas condensate in two years.

The head of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), Abbas Kazemi told IRNA Aug. 12 that Iranians consumed 79 ml/d of gasoline since the beginning of current fiscal year, started on March 21, of which 67 ml/d was produced domestically and the rest was imported.
