Iran’s gas supply to power plants up by 7%

Iran's power plants generated over 164.834 TWh of electricity since the beginning of the current Iranian fiscal year ‎‎(March 21) till Sept. 8, according to the latest weekly statistics, published by Iran's Energy Ministry.

The figure indicates a rise by 7 percent compared to the same period of preceding year.

Iran’s electricity export has also increased by 27 percent up to ‎4.701 terawatt-hours (TWh)‎ from the beginning of current fiscal year to Sept. 8, ‎ according to the report.

Meanwhile, Iran imported 2.173 TWh of electricity during the period, which is similar with the same period of preceding year.

Iran’s thermal power plants and Bushehr nuclear power plant produced 154.577 terawatt hours of electricity in total during the period, meanwhile hydroelectric power plants shared 10.277 TWh ‎ of the country's total electricity production.

The country increased gas and gas oil delivery to its power plants by 7.1 percent and 52.8 percent to 36.894 billion cubic meters and 1.337 billion liters, while fuel oil supply to this sector increased by 2.3 percent to 1.328 billion liters in the mentioned period.

The nominal electric generation capacity has increased by 680 megawatts (MW) to 77,108 MW in Iran since the beginning of current Iranian fiscal year, according to the report.

Iran plans to increase its nominal electric generation capacity to 80,000 MW by summer 2018.
