Volume of staple goods load/unload at Iranian ports down by over 30%

Iran received more than 979,295 tons of staple food products through 20 ports across the country over the last Iranian calendar month ending Oct. 22.

The country loaded and unloaded 1.11 million tons of food products at its ports in the one-month period, indicating a 31.3 percent fall year-on-year, according to the latest monthly report released by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

In the meantime, the country exported 131,041 tons of staple food products through the organization’s ports.

The food products mentioned in the report include wheat, barley, butter, soy, rice, sugar, cooking oil, and meat products.

According to the report over 521,366 tons of fertilizers and chemicals were also loaded/unloaded at Iranian ports (the volume of the unloaded fertilizers and chemicals was 169,247 tons).

Iranian ports saw loading and unloading of a total of 11.859 million tons of various goods and commodities, including food and metal products between Sept. 22 and Oct. 22.

In general, over 88 million tons of goods have been loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the current fiscal year (started March 20), indicating a 3.5 percent increase year-on-year.
