Iran home appliances output falls

Iran's total home appliances output (including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and TV sets) has decreased by 3.9 percent in the first five months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20 – Aug. 22), according to the latest statistics released by Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade of Iran.

Iran produced over 1.406 millions of aforementioned home appliances in the 5-month period, compared to 1.462 million of home appliances manufactured in the country in the same period of the preceding year.

Over 332,600 air conditioners (25.7 percent decrease), 397,700 refrigerators (4.8 percent increase), 312,800 washing machines (29.5 percent increase) and 362,600 TV sets (7.8 percent decrease) were produced in Iran in the first 5 months of the current fiscal year.

Iranian manufacturers also produced 87,200 televisions in the fifth Iranian calendar month (86.4 percent more, month on month), meanwhile the country’s refrigerator and washing machine production accounted to 97,500 and 78,600, registering a monthly increase of 20.8 and 36.6 percent, respectively.

The country’s production of air conditioners stood at 20,300 in the same month, 38.5 percent less month on month.

Iran also manufactured 3.675 million of electromotors in the first five months of the current fiscal year, 4.5 percent less year on year.

The home appliances market in Iran is worth 200 trillion rials (over $5.7 billion at market exchange rate).

Domestic production accounts for only 25 percent of this amount and the rest is dominated by foreign brands, according to the Association of Household Appliances Industries of Iran.
