Agronomic ‎products tops Iran’s agricultural exports ‎

The Islamic Republic exported 2.5 million tons of agricultural products during the first half of the current fiscal year (started March 20, 2017), Iran’s deputy agriculture minister, Abdolmehdi Bakhshandeh, said.

He further said that the value of exported agricultural products accounted for $2.072 billion during the 6-month period, the official website of the agriculture ministry reported Nov. 8.

Agronomic products topped the list of exports with 68.64 percent share in terms of volume, followed by horticultural products (14.97 percent) and livestock (14.29 percent), Bakhshandeh added.

In terms of value, horticultural products ranked first with 37.3 percent share, followed by agronomic products (29.22 percent) and livestock (25 percent), the official said.

He added that pistachio, watermelon, ice cream and other frozen syrups, tomato paste and cheese topped the list of Iran’s agricultural exports in terms of value.

Meanwhile in terms of volume watermelon, tomatoes, potatoes, wheat flour and yogurt were top five exported products, Bakhshandeh said.
