Polish companies from various fields are seeking ways to get into Iranian market. For example, the Polish government last year opened a trade office in Iran.

“I think Polish companies in the fields of IT, ICT, startups, medical and laboratory products and general hospital equipment can be quite successful in Iran,” Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the head of Tehran Bureau at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency told Trend.

He also said that currently a Polish company named ACSA is planning talks with Iran’s truck and bus manufacturer Saipa Diesel for a joint venture.

“It would be a big project in cooperation with the Iranian Fuel Conservation Organization and municipalities to replace conventional engines with LPG or CNG engines,” he said.

Kaczynski also said that the Tehran Bureau is finding ways for Polish companies to connect with Iranian partners in a way that complies with governmental restrictions.

“We are aware of most of the restrictions, including the ‘Eghtesade Moghavemat’ (resistance economy), which is blocking import of products as long as they are produced or can be produced in Iran. So for example, instead of promoting just import-export relations, we are promoting cooperation. For example part of the production will be done in Poland, then the products will be imported here, and then certain part of production will be conducted here, either in special economic zones or by some partners here… to avoid the export-import restrictions.”

The resistance economy policy was introduced by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It aims at minimizing reliance on foreign sources in order to reduce vulnerability in case of sanctions.
