Iran’s biggest carmaker witnesses 14% production growth

Iran Khodro (IKCO), the Islamic Republic’s biggest automaker company, has manufactured over 444,573 passenger cars during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (started March 20).

The figure indicates a rise by 13.9 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year, the company said.

Iran Khodro’s output in eighth Iranian calendar month (Oct. 22-Nov. 22) reached 54,600 cars.

The Peugeot 206 model topped the company’s output list in the 8-month period. Iran Khodro manufactured 112,141 Peugeot 206 cars in the period, 18.7 percent more year-on-year.

Peugeot 405 (94,338, 3.7 percent less year-on-year), Peugeot Pars (78,924, 1 percent more) and Samand (69,797, 7.9 percent more) were other top car models in the company’s output list during the period.

Iranian auto makers produced 135,251 cars in total during the eighth Iranian month, 4.6 percent more year-on-year.

The country’s passenger car output (including sedans and SUVs) stood at 126,005 in the one-month period, registering a 4-percent increase compared to the same month of the preceding year.
