Sales in Iran's housing sector increase

The latest statistics by the Central Bank of Iran indicate a 13.5 percent jump in the number of sales of residential apartments over the last calendar month to January 20 in the capital Tehran, the country’s largest capital market.

According to the statistics, 19,000 residential apartments were traded in the capital city in the mentioned period, indicating a 13.5 percent increase compared to the same time of last year.

In the meantime, the average price of the residential properties in Tehran has increased by 16.7 percent year-on-year.

Per square meter of residential property in Tehran over the last month was valued at about $15,00 (52.4 million rials) in average.

This is while according to the deputy head of the development commission of the parliament, Qoliollah Qolizadeh, there are about 2.5 million surplus residential units in the country.
