Saipa holds near half of Iran’s auto market

Iranian automaker company Saipa manufactured 37,761 cars during the last calendar month (March 20-April 20), which made the group the country’s largest car manufacturer in terms of output volume.

Saipa shared 46.5 percent of Iran’s car production in last month, according to the Iranian industry ministry statistics.

The company, which used to be Iran’s second biggest automaker after Iran Khodro, increased its output by 58 percent year-on-year.

Saipa group’s car output amounted to 23,947 in the same month of preceding year, when the company’s share from the market stood at 37 percent.

Saipa’s overall auto production in the last fiscal year, which ended March 2018, was about 667,000 vehicles.

Iran Khodro (IKCO) has manufactured over 33,000 cars during the last Iranian fiscal month and took a 41.8 percent share from the market.

Other Iranian automakers manufactured 8,460 cars in the last calendar month, with an overall share of 10.4 percent from the market.

The share of imports from the Islamic Republic’s car market in the one-month period, was 1.3 percent or 1,047 vehicles.

Iran’s car industry registered a production growth by 13.7 percent in the last fiscal year. The auto manufacturers produced over 1.535 million cars during the 12-month period.

Iran manufactured 1.44 million passenger cars in last fiscal year, 14.8 percent more year-on-year.
