The secretary-general of Iran's Union of Producers of Egg-Laying Hen said the country is exporting eggs to Afghanistan.
“Limited export of eggs to Afghanistan is underway,” Farzad Talakesh told Mehr news agency on July 4.
He added that the decision to export eggs to Afghanistan was made two weeks ago after its price witnessed a decline in Iran.
Talakesh further said Iran’s egg production is currently low, stressing that, however, there has been no national egg shortage.
Each Iranian consumed 198 eggs on average in the last fiscal that ended in March 2017.
