Iran’s gasoline consumption registers record high

Daily gasoline consumption in Iran registered a historic record on July 22 as 121.8 million liters of the fuel was consumed across the country, the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said.

The country’s average daily gasoline consumption during the last calendar month (June 22-July 22) stood at 91.7 million liters.

The figure indicates a rise by 8.4 percent compared to the same month of the preceding year and by 8.1 million liters compared to the daily consumption in the third Iranian calendar month (May 21-June 22).

The average gasoline consumption from the beginning of the current fiscal year (started March 20) stood at 86.8 million liters per day, 9.6 percent more compared to the same period of the preceding year.

The highest amount of gasoline consumption in the last calendar month was on July 22, which was an unprecedented record (121.8 million liters), while the lowest consumption was registered on June 6 (76 million liters).

Iran’s daily gasoline output currently stands at 78 million liters. The country plans to increase the output to above 105 million liters per day by March 2019.

Iran’s oil minister, Bijan Zanganeh, earlier said the country will have no gasoline import from the second half of the current calendar year (starting on September 23).

The country's diesel consumption (excluding power plants) during the fourth Iranian calendar month amounted to 73 million liters per day, 8.7 percent more year-on-year. The diesel consumption during the current fiscal year stood at 68.8 million liters per day, registering a 6.1 percent increase compared to the same months of preceding year.
