Tehran, Iran, Sept. 29

Trend:
The head of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) said Iran and Oman are finalizing talks over a major gas export agreement.
“A framework [for the gas export deal between Iran and Oman] will be probably signed in October or November,” Mehran Amir-Moeini told ISNA on September 29.

"The Omani side has called for some reforms with respect to the terms of the deal and we are reviewing them," he added.

The official further said that the deal was expected to be inked in early July, but was delayed due to some contractual and legal procedures.

“The delay has nothing to do with the new US sanctions,” Amir-Moeini said.

Iran signed an agreement with Oman in 2013 to deliver 28 million cubic meters of gas per day to the Persian Gulf state for 15 years. The two nations hope the gas flow will begin by 2020.
