The South Korea is one of the oldest, fundamental and largest buyers of Iranian oil, and the Islamic Republic's oil export to this country won't drop to zero, said the Member of Presidium of Iran-South Korea Trade and Energy Chamber Kiya Kiyani, Tasnim news agency reported.

He noted that the most important task of the sanctions, which kicked in since the second month of the Iranian calendar, was to lower to zero the volume of procurement of the Iranian oil.

During the previous sanctions, the South Korea obtained permission from the US Treasury Department and bought approximately 180,000 barrels of oil per day from Iran.

Kiyani said Iran has encountered two sanction schemes during this period: the 1st scheme is to apply sanctions to oil products, second - apply sanctions to oil payments.

He added that the South Korea uses approximately 2.9-3.2 million barrels of oil every day. During the period after adoption of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 400,000 barrels of the South Korea’s demand were satisfied by Iran. They intended to increase this volume to 700,000-900,000 barrels.
