Iran and Syria should implement substantial work in the area of trade, Bahman Danayifar, adviser to vice-president of Iran said at the conference held with participation of the co-chairs of Iran-Syria Chamber of Commerce, businessmen from private sector, ambassadors of the two countries.
He added that the trade turnover of the two countries amounts to $160 million.
This is a very little figure and cannot be justified at all, he said.
He noted that a road map shall be developed at this conference in accordance with the gained experiences.
The businessmen of the two countries can contribute to solution of the problems facing the trade between Iran and Syria, he concluded.
Danayifar believes that one of the substantial deficiencies in the trade between Iran and Syria is the failure to implement trade turnover of the two countries in their national currencies: whereas the meetings dedicated to this topic have been held at the Central Bank of Islamic Republic of Iran, and the issue of establishment of joint banks and their branches has been put on the agenda.
Also a project related to trade turnover of Iran and Syria has been submitted to the Central Bank of Iran.
