The representative of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Iran said that the body is ready to cooperate with Iran on establishing green industries, with energy productivity at the center, IRNA reports.
'Energy productivity is a way for creating a sustainable, trustworthy system, and will be helpful in solving environmental problems and energy security,' Maryam Javan-Shahraki said on Wednesday.
A rise in the demand for energy has created numerous challenges in the contemporary world, but the advancement and innovations as well as the rising players of the market have mitigated the problems, she said.
Enhancing energy productivity is one of the ways to fight climate change, the UNIDO representative added.
Iran is among the ten countries that emit the most greenhouse gas, Javan-Shahraki said noting that Iran and the UN in May 2017 announced a national strategic plan under the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement for combating climate change.
'However, we have a long way to go,' she said.
