Last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), loans worth 444 billion rials (about $10.5 million) have been paid to nomads in the South Khorasan Province of Iran, Hossein Hosseinpour, head of the main department for the issues of nomads in the South Khorasan Province in Iran, said in an interview with IRNA, Trend reports.
He said that the loans were provided through the national development fund in order to reduce the damage caused by drought in the province, for emergency management, livestock and meat production development, as well as for improving the welfare of the village and nomads.
He added that 72.3 billion rials (about $1.72 million) were allocated to the province last year to compensate for the damage caused by drought, and 478 nomadic families received these loans.
This year, 118.7 billion rials (about $2.82 million) were allocated as a loan, he said.
“At the end of last year, 195 billion rials (about $4.64 million) were allocated to the province to improve livestock development, and all funds were given as loans to the nomads,” he said.
He noted that 232 billion rials (about $5.52 million) were allocated to improve the well-being of the village and nomads. So far, 90 billion rials (about $2.14 million) have been issued, he said.
