In the ninth month of the current Iranian year (started March 21), in Astara county of Iran's Gilan province, 15 domestic standardization licenses were issued for 328 tons of export goods and seven licenses for 1,948 tons of import goods, Shakhroukh Jafari, head of Astara standardization office, said, Trend reports via Iranian media.

He noted that Astara standardization office monitors and issues licenses for imported and exported products in accordance with national standards.

Jafari said that the 328 tons of above mentioned export goods, which amounted to 31 billion rials in value (roughly $738,000), were raisins and dates.

The imported goods, for which seven licenses were issued, amounted to 18.221 billion rials (roughly $433,000) and were mainly comprised of various steel products, animal feed and medium-density fibreboard.

Astara county is located in the north-east of Gilan province and has a population of 91,000. The county is considered one of Iran's trading hubs due to location (the county borders Republic of Azerbaijan to north).
