Wheat production in Iran’s Markazi province grows 73%

This sowing year, wheat production in Iran’s Markazi province has grown by about 73 percent compared to 1978, said Majid Anjafi, director of Iran Markazi Province Agriculture Jihad Department, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that 320,000 tons of wheat were produced this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018) in the province. However, wheat production was 78,000 tons in 1978.

He added that 2,829 tons of agricultural products worth $84 million were exported from this province last year. Exports of products increased by 100 percent compared to 1978.

“Presently, 400,000 tons of fruits and vegetables are produced in the Markazi province,” he said. “However, about 45,000 tons of fruits and vegetables were produced at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution. Some 1.8 million tons of planting crops were also produced last sowing year. This is while about 480,000 tons of planting crops were produced at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution.”
