More than 5,000 tons of greenhouse cucumbers have been harvested and sent to the consumer market in Iran’s Iranshahr County of Sistan and Baluchestan Province since November 6, Sistan and Baluchestan Province Agriculture Office Director Majid Fayyazi said, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that the planting of greenhouse cucumber in Iran starts in late September and harvesting begins 40 days later.

Farmers of Iranshahr County earned 8 billion rials (about $190,000) by selling greenhouse cucumbers, he noted.

He added that 60 hectares of agricultural land in this area have been allocated to plant greenhouse cucumbers this year (started March 21, 2018).

On average, 150 tons of cucumbers are harvested per hectare of greenhouse, he said.

“More than 9,000 tons of greenhouse cucumbers are expected to be harvested this Iranian year,” he noted.
