Exports of Iran’s Mazandaran Province reach $261M

This year (starting from March 21, 2019), around 11 trillion rials’ (around $261 million) worth of products have been exported from the customs points of Mazandaran Province in northern Iran, Ali Yousefi Manesh, Head of Mazandaran’s Customs Department, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

Around 572,000 tons of products have been exported in ten months this year. As such, in comparison with the same period last year, a 5 percent increase in terms of weight was observed, accompanied by a 48 percent increase in value.

Yousefi Manesh added that dairy products, ice cream, various sweets, caoutchouc, cement and metal are among the main exports of the province, with products being exported to 40 countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Turkey.

“During the last 10 months, 3 million tons of wheat, animal feed, paper, iron products, and various other products worth 73 billion rials (around $880,000) have been imported via the Nowshahr, Fereydunkenar and Amirabad customs points,” he said, adding that Russia, the UAE, Germany, Scotland and Switzerland are the main import sources for the products.

Yousefi Manesh also pointed out that 45 million tons of iron products, paper, and other goods have been transited to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, India and Kazakhstann via Mazandaran’s customs points. He further stated that 989 ships have berthed at the ports of Mazandaran this year, which shows a 12-percent increase compared to the same period last year.

“The provincial customs have made 2.38 trillion rials (around $56.7 million) of profit during the 10 months of this year, 1.2 trillion rials (around $28.5 million) of which have been paid to the state budget in cash, with the rest expected to be paid by the end of the year” he said.

The Mazandaran Province of Iran has five customs points located in Amirabad, Fereydunkenar, Nowshahr, Amol and Sari.
