Tehran-Colombo flights to start soon

Sri Lanka seeks to expand its economic ties with Yazd Province in Iran to boost industrial and textile cooperation and create investment opportunities.

Sri Lankan Ambassador in Iran Mohammad Sharif Anis held a joint meeting with businessmen in Yazd province and said that Iranian companies can use the investment opportunities to build roads, bridges and buildings in Sri Lanka, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Referring to Sri Lanka’s clothing exports, the official noted the need for raw textile imports and the good capacity of trade with Yazd in this field.

The diplomat has also announced Tehran – Colombo flights will start in the near future to develop tourism and economic activities.

Referring to Yazd’s historical sights, he said the Iranian province can be part of tourism cooperation.
The businessmen from Yazd also noted the province’s high capacity to export various products, including tile, stone, textile, power board, cable and milk powder.

While Yazd produces 45 percent of Iran’s tile and ceramic, its greenhouse agricultural products rank second in the country.

Yazd is also the second province in Iran with large number of mines and ranks first in mineral exports that would be good investment opportunity. It is considered as the fourth industrial region in Iran.
