Mining licenses provided in Iran's Ilam Province increase fourfold

The number of licenses issued for mining operations in Iran’s south-western Ilam Province has increased 4 times during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Yarallah Nasiri, head of Ilam Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Nasiri, the growth has been compared to the same period last year.

Nasiri added that 5 licenses have been issued for 248,000 tons of mining this year, and 36 people gained employment. Nasiri said that the province has 87 mines in total, with 67 of them in operation.

"13 mining materials are extracted from the mines in total," he said.

Nasiri stated that Ilam’s mining reserves are estimated at over 1 billion tons, further noting that 1,200 people are directly and indirectly involved in the mining sector of Ilam Province.

Nasiri noted that the province is rich in such mining resources as construction materials, bitumen, gypsum, lime, calcite, silica, gravel, sand, marble, etc. He added that the mining industry is mainly operated by the private sector.
