Production of Iran's Mahabad Petrochemical Complex up by 20%

The production in Mahabad Petrochemical Complex, located in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, increased by 20 percent to 320,000 tons over the last year (started March 21, 2018), Mohsen Majidi, Executive Director of Iran's Mahabad Petrochemical Company, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Majidi, the company’s production output is currently about 30 percent more than the planned amount, and the products are exported to domestic and foreign markets.

Majidi added that 80 percent of the production was exported last year.

"The products are mainly exported to China," he said.

According to Majidi, 50 trucks are being loaded in Mahabad Petrochemical Complex, and, as the largest petrochemical facility in West Azerbaijan, the complex currently produces light and heavy polyethylene and 1-butene.

A 1,600-meter-long ethylene pipeline has been constructed from Asaluyeh County of Iran’s southern Bushehr Province to Mahabad Petrochemical Complex. About 324,000 tons of ethylene, utilized as fuel, are pumped from Asaluyeh annually.

Mahabad Petrochemical Complex produces 300,000 tons of light and heavy polyethylene, 30,000 tons of 1-butene annually.

600 people work in the complex and 3,000 are in the complex.

West Azerbaijan’s Mahabad County has about 237,000 inhabitants.
