Iranian exports of industrial, mining products up by 8%

Export of Iranian industrial and mining products (without gas condensates) increased by 8 percent over the past 11 months of the previous Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), said Masoud Kamali Ardakani, director general of Industrial and Mineral Exports Development Office at Iran’s Trade Development Organization (TPO), Trend reports referring to the TPO’s website.

According to Ardakani, the figures for the aforementioned increased by about 6 percent, when compared to the same period of the preceding year (started March 21, 2017).

Ardakani added that the exports for this period exceeded $28.2 billion.

"The export of petrochemical products increased by 14 percent to $13.2 billion, while that of oil products for bitumen and industrial oils increased by 12 percent to $2.2 billion, and polymer products by 3 percent to $1.5 billion," he said.

As for mining products, the official said that exports of iron ore, non-ferrous metals, pipes and profiles amounted to $5.7 billion.

Ardakani stated that exports of cement, ceramics, ornamental stones and other non-metallic products increased by 1 percent to $1.7 billion.

"The export of energy and non-energy consumer goods increased by 17 percent to $440 million. The textile products increased by 2 percent to $420 million," he said.

Ardakani noted that exports of factory-made carpets and moquettes increased by 14 percent to $390 million over the aforementioned period.

According to him, exports of spare parts for cars and motorcycles increased by 60 percent to $130 million during the 11-month period, while wire and cable exports increased by 30 percent to $216 million, and that of tractors, combines, agricultural products, food products, and industrial equipment increased by 26 percent to $176 million.

Iran's main markets for industrial and mining products consist of neighboring countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. Other export destinations include India, China, Indonesia, Syria and Uzbekistan.
