Container loading, unloading at Iran's Shahid Bahonar port up by nearly 70%

Some 6,000 TEU refrigerated containers have been loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Bahonar port of Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province during the first 2 months (March 21-May 21) of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini, director general of the Shahid Bahonar port, told reporters, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

According to him, this shows a 67-percent increase over the same period last year.

Mohammad Hosseini added that the volume of product transit at Shahid Bahonar port was 16,200 tons during the mentioned period, which shows a 113-percent increase.

He went on to say that the export of goods via the port exceeded 183,000 tons during this period, which shows an 89-percent increase over the same period last year.

"Some 232,800 tons of non-oil products were unloaded at the Shahid Bahonar port. There was a 72-percent increase compared to the same period last year," he said.

The port official said that 205 ships moved in and out of the port in 2 months, and that there was a 40-percent increase.

Shahid Bahonar port is one of the seaport terminals suitable for Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iraq in the transit corridor of the region.
