Iran and Qatar significantly increased the mutual trade turnover in 2006-2018, with the value of the trade turnover amounting to $880 million in last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 20, 2019), Chairman of Tehran Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Yadullah Sadiqi, told reporters following a meeting dedicated to the trade and economic opportunities of Iran, Qatar and Oman.

The trade turnover between the two countries has increased by ten times during the reporting period, Sadiqi added, Trend reports referring to ISNA.

Sadiqi said that the trade turnover between Iran and Oman is slightly less than this figure. In his words, Iran may further expand trade relations with these countries.

Given that Oman and Qatar are ready to export food and building materials and that the transportation cost is cheap, Iran may use these opportunities and supply the required products to both states, Sadiqi added.

In the first month of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), Iran exported the goods worth $8 million to Qatar and imported the goods worth $300,000. The export of Iranian goods to Qatar declined by 54 percent compared to the same period of last year.

During the reporting period, Iran exported the goods worth $10 million to Oman and imported the goods worth $9 million. The export of Iranian goods to Oman decreased by 78 percent compared to the same period of last year.
