Russia, Iran to jointly construct thermal power plants

Russia and Iran will jointly construct four Thermal Power Plants in Iran's Hormozgan province, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said at a press conference following the 15th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation between Iran and Russia, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

Total generation at these four stations will be 1,400 megawatts, Ardakanian said.

He noted that both sides are looking forward to the start of this crucial project within the upcoming three months. The minister added that talks are ongoing on Bushehr 2 and Bushehr 3 Nuclear Power Plants in Iran's south and there is certain progress already.

Some agreements have been reached between Iranian provinces and Russia's Northern Caucasus region on the commission of a cruise ship in the Caspian Sea, Ardakanian said.

Joint meeting among Russian, Kazakh, Turkmen and Iranian railway companies will be held on the electrification of Tabriz (East Azerbaijan province) - Sangan (Razavi Khorasan) - Bafgh (Yazd) - Mashhad (Razavi Khorasan) railway and further study of Rasht-Astara railway project, Ardakanian said.

The minister added that 12 cooperation agreements in various sectors will be signed between Russia and Iran.
