Iran discloses value of products exported through Astara railway

The products worth $4 million were exported through the Astara railway of Iran’s northern Gilan province during three months (March 21 to June 21) of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), Director General of Iran's Astara Customs Service Rasul Umidi said.

Some 18,900 tons of products were exported via 307 railcars, Umidi added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

He added that during three months, 62,100 tons worth $18.3 million were transported to the Astara Railway Terminal.

Among the products exported by Iran to Russia, Georgia and Ukraine are ceramics, cement, stone and clinker. Among the products imported by Iran from Russia, Georgia and Ukraine are Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF), timber and grain, Umidi added.

He said that 2,810 tons of goods worth $8.02 million were transported via 96 railcars during three months.

The organizations rendering the services in the trade, export, import and transportation sectors are operating in the terminal, Umidi said, adding that as a result, the activity of the Astara-Astara railway will be expanded.

Some 91,000 people live in Astara district in Iran’s Gilan province. Astara district is located on the border with Azerbaijan.
