Trend:

Iran may be adding new items to the list of imports at its free zones, said the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran's Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones Morteza Bank.

"There have been negotiations on adding new items to the list of imports at the free zones. Currently registering orders for imports of 3,000 items of goods is allowed at free and special economic zones," said Bank, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Considering the regulations in imports of raw materials or basic goods at the free zones, this is one of the most important issues. Meanwhile, there have been various meetings held aimed at improving domestic production at the zones," he noted.

"There have been agreement with Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to issue license for facilitating exports from the free zones," he added.

Bank said that the imports to the free zones in 2018 amounted to $16.8 billion, while the exports settled for $18.5 billion.
