By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

In the first six months (from March 21 to Sept. 22, 2019) of the current Iranian year, the exports of Iran's Golestan province decreased by 50 percent in monetary terms, compared to the same period of the previous year, Chairman of Golestan Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Hossein Tolouian said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

During the reported period, the province exported 257,000 tons of goods for $74.5 million, Tolouian said.

Golestan exported goods to 31 countries, including Tunisia, Ghana, Argentina, Malaysia, Kuwait, Brazil, the UAE, Syria, Serbia and Tajikistan, the chairman added.

The main reasons for the decrease in exports are the obstacles Iranian businessmen face when bringing foreign currency to the country, exchanging a share of the obtained foreign currency via NIMA system, as well as the restriction on exports of some goods, Tolouian said.

According to the chairman, the province mainly exported eggs, prawns, tomato paste, dairy products, steel, cement and animal feed.

The value of the province's exports is expected to reach $350 million in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 21, 2020), the chairman noted.

NIMA is a system intended for the sale of a certain percentage of the foreign currency gained from export. The price of 1 euro in this system is 119,824 rials, and the price of $1 is 107,623 rials.
