Iran will suspend production of four types of cars by the end of this year (beginning on March 21, 2019) and early next year (beginning on March 21, 2020), Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani said.
The production of Peugeot 405 GLX cars running on gasoline will be stopped by the end of the year, Rahmani added, Trend reports referring to the ministry’s website.
Rahmani noted that the production of the first class Pride car will be stopped during the 10th month of the current Iranian year (from December 22 through January 20). "Production of two types of Pride cars will be stopped during the next 2-3 months (from April 20 through June 20)," he said.
The Iranian minister said that the decision was made to improve the quality of cars and satisfy the customers' demand.
Rahmani added that new cars will be produced instead of these cars.
The Iranian traffic police have announced that they will stop issuing the vehicle registration plates for some types of cars.
