This Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), 9 billion rials (approximately $214,000) have been allocated in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province for the construction of the Yasuj-Eghlid railway between Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and Fars provinces, said Pejman Nikeghbali, director general of the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad roads and urban development department, Trend reports via IRNA.

Nikeghbali noted that the completion of this railway project will take many years with the allocation of such amount of funds, adding that the construction of this railway will require around 10 trillion rials (about $238 million).

“A five-year timetable for commissioning this project is planned,” the director general added. “The railway can be commissioned in a timely manner if the funds envisaged for this project increase to 2 trillion rials (about $47.6 million) per year.”

Yasuj-Eghlid railway, which is 127 kilometers long, will connect Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province to Iran’s railway network, Nikeghbali said.

The director general noted that more than 80 percent progress has been reached regarding the railway’s construction on the 23rd kilometer from Eghlid city.

Seven stations are planned to be built as part of this railway project, Nikeghbali added.
