The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has drilled and developed 100 wells in the onshore and offshore fields in Iran, said Hamid Reza Khoshayand, deputy managing director of NIDC, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Khoshayand noted that in 11 months of this Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through Feb. 19, 2020), 35 of the total number of wells were delineation wells, two were exploration wells and 63 were repair wells.

The deputy managing director added that 72 of the total number of wells were exploration wells owned by National Iranian South Oilfields Company, 15 by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, two by the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, nine by Petroleum Engineering and Development Company and two by National Iranian Oil Company.

Khoshayand said that NIDC has more than 70 drilling rigs. The Fath 31, Fath 40 and Fath 69 drilling rigs have recently started operating and several other drilling rigs are expected to be commissioned, the deputy managing director noted.

“During 11 months, nine oil and gas wells were drilled 89 days ahead of the planned schedule and were handed over to the related companies,” Khoshayand added.

In general, Iran has 125 oil fields and 59 gas fields. Iran’s total hydrocarbon reserves are 836 billion barrels. Using the technological equipment, it is possible to extract 239 billion barrels of this volume.
