Review of regulations to improve Iran home appliances production - official

TEHRAN, Iran, May.5

Trend:

Pricing and other regulations should be reviewed in order to develop home appliances production, said the former secretary of Iran's Home Appliances Association and member of Industrial Commission in Iran Chamber of Commerce.

The parliament should form a committee with the slogan of improving the economy based on the private sector and see what rules could help this process, Habibollah Ansari, told Trend in an interview.

"Control of market for pricing should be stopped, home appliances producer is prepared to sell their products with the least profit due to lack of liquidity. In this situation pricing should not be ordered (by the Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade), for example, they say an increase of home appliances price should not be more than 1 percent per year," he added.

The import of home appliances has been banned since 2018 in this regard smuggling was confronted intensely.

"We should look for joint investment, now there are series of factories that are producing foreign brands by the Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade permit. It means foreign companies order Iranian company to produce home appliances for the Iranian market, for example, Samsung and LG had production in Iran, that part of basic material provided by Iran and partly imported for example some parts of the refrigerator should be imported," he noted.

"In the current situation, I think foreign investment rule should be revised the current law should have a look toward developing economy and export," he said.
