Iran to release imported trucks from customs

TEHRAN, Iran, July.6

The Ministry of Road and Urban Development is cooperating with Iran Customs Administration to release imported trucks, said the Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development.

The release of trucks from customs required the collaboration of several organizations therefore the clearance process took a long time, said Darius Amani, Trend reports citing IRNA.

A total of 2,000 trucks was registered to be imported in the last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) and so far 350 trucks have been released and the remaining ones are in the legal process of being released.

"We are also registering new orders to import new trucks to replace old trucks. Two separate contracts signed between banking network and manufacturers for renovating 6,000 trucks last Iranian year are continuing," he added.

"There was a contract signed with Iran Khodro for manufacturing passenger fleet in last Iranian year and so far 140 vehicles were delivered and we are planning new contract for the manufacture of 2,000 more vehicles. We have signed a contract with two domestic minibus manufacturing companies for the manufacture of 500 minibus while the negotiation with another company is ongoing," Amani noted.
