Iran launches number of dams in Bushehr Province

The Deputy Governor of Bushehr Province for Civil Affairs announced the construction of 6 new dams in different areas of the province in the last 8 years.

In 2018, a roadmap was drawn in Bushehr Governorate to begin the operation of three semi-finished dams and to complete the implementation of three other dams by the June 2021, Mehrdad Sotoudeh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to the plan, he says that the dams of Qiz Qaleh, Sana and Tang Eram, which were left semi-finished, were put into operation in 2018.

“The executive operation of the Khaiz dam with a volume of 16 million cubic meters began in 2018 and lasted for three years,” he said. "It has been completed and is scheduled to be officially opened on Monday, July 12."

The Deputy Governor of Bushehr stated that the executive operation of Akhand dam in Assaluyeh and Arghun dam in Dashtestan, each with a volume of 2 million cubic meters, started in 2019.

“It would have been constructed and operated within a year, if the Covid-19 outbreak didn't occur," Sotoudeh noted.

He added that however, at present, Arghun Dam is ready for operation and Akhand Dam will be completed and inaugurated in September.

The deputy Bushehr governor for civil affairs stated that the credit spent for the Khaiz dam was $40 million and that the Akhand and Arghun dams were a total of $69 million.

Sotoudeh, stating that the completion of these dams was achieved with the follow-up of the governor of Bushehr, added that $2.3 million of credit was allocated by the president for the construction of the Khaiz dam.
