Iran's TPO emphasizes importance of preferential trade agreement with EAEU

TEHRAN, Iran, July.12

It is necessary to improve the preferential trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasia Economic Union to a free trade agreement by next year, said the Chairman of Iran Trade Promotion Organization.

"It is important to have commercial cooperation with members of the Eurasia Economic Union," said Hamid Zadboom, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"Lifting sanctions against Iran and removing banking sanctions would develop Iran's trade cooperation with members of the Eurasia Economic Union even more than before," he said during Eurasia Expo 2021.

Iran's import from Eurasia in 2020 was $1.6 billion that had grown compared to Coronavirus in 2019 while the country's import from the world had a 14 percent decline.

Iran's export to Eurasia during 2020 was $1.2 billion that indicate a 50 percent growth compared to 2019 while the trade volume between the two was around $2.9 billion in 2020 that had an 18 percent increase.

Eurasia Expo 2021 is underway in Tehran on July 9-12 attended by businessmen, producers, entrepreneurs, and senior managers of Eurasia Economic member countries such as Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Iran.
