Iran's apparel export increases

TEHRAN, Iran, July 31

Trend:

Iran exports clothing to Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and partly to Russia as the smuggled imports slowly starting to decline, said head of Tehran's Apparel Manufacturers and Retailers Union Abolghasem Shirazi, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

"Despite the production obstacles in 2020, Iran's clothing export had increased compared to 2019 and Iran has exported clothes to Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan and Russia," said Shirazi.

"Production problems still continue and lack of access to basic material for clothing production alongside taxes, insurance and coronavirus restrictions - all this created problems for producers," he said.

"The apparel industry in Iran was not supported during COVID-19 outbreak, and producers did not receive any support packages," he said.

"Regardless of obstacles and limitations, Iran's clothing production quality and quantity has improved," Shirazi said.
