The synchronization of Iran and Russia power networks will start in late April, said deputy energy minister for international affairs Mohammad Ali Farahnakian, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Half of the project’s primary studies have been completed, and the operation is expected to begin in late April, Iran's consultant of the project receives relevant data, he said.
"Synchronizing the power network with neighboring countries has many other benefits. When the power grids are connected, the stability of the network will be increased," he indicated.
Farahnakian said Russia and also other neighboring countries have peaks of power consumption during cold months, and this is where Iran can provide extra electricity.
"In return, Iran can use power generation capacity of its neighbors, like Russia, during summer consumption peaks in Iran," said the official.
