Iran's deferred bank payments increase

TEHRAN, Iran, Feb. 7

Trend:

Iran's deferred bank payments are growing higher than global standards, said the spokesman of the parliament's Economic Commission Gholamreza Marhaba, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Banks' clients are not keen on paying their debts and banks' deferred claims are more than global standards. Banks are concerned about the new policy of offering a loan to applicants without a guarantor," he said.

The Iranian government has announced the conditions for the new policy to 13 public banks. The loan's ceiling will be 500 million rials (about $11,000) and 1 billion rials (about $23,000).

The loans will be provided to qualified individuals without the need to recommend a guarantor in less than two months.
