Iran is quite skeptical when following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) by the West, says Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
"Neither during the nuclear talks, nor in the course of the adoption of the JCPOA have we been optimistic about the opposite side's commitment to its obligations under the JCPOA," he told Trend in Tehran Nov. 12.
"We have also devised necessary processes in our implementation of the JCPOA so that if they [the West] violate the conditions of the deal, Iran would be able to return to its previous state of nuclear activities," the diplomat further said.
"The conditions and recommendations so far set by the supreme leader, the parliament, and the supreme national security council are also aimed at making sure that we are on a safe track, and we are carefully watching that the opposite side acts in line with its commitment," he reiterated.
Araqchi noted that as the sides to the JCPOA are moving along the deal's framework in implementing their mutual obligations, there is hope that the implementation day of the JCPOA will happen in two or three months.
The JCPOA was reached between Iran and the P5+1 (the US, the UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) on July 14 and was ratified on July 20 with issuance of the UN Security Resolution 2231.
Iran is obliged under the deal to narrow down its nuclear activities, while the opposite side is in return expected to lift its economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
