President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that Iran attaches importance to expansion of relations and cooperation with East Asia, IRNA reported.
President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong.
President Rouhani said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to develop economic cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and broaden the scope of mutual relations.
Describing Tehran-Pyongyang relations as deep-rooted and positive, he said it is expected the two sides to help further broaden economic cooperation in all fields.
Restoration of peace and security in the Korean Peninsula is of prime importance, Rouhani said adding that certain countries seek to ignite flames of war or escalate tension in the region and the entire world, but, peace and security will be attained through wisdom of leaders and the governments.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korean foreign minister, for his part conveyed the warm greetings of North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un and said there exists satisfactory relations between the two countries and North Korea is determined to further broaden economic cooperation with Iran.
He praised Iran's resistance to the sanctions and adopting the resistance economy as per the guidelines of the Supreme Leader to thwart menaces of the sanctions over the nuclear dispute.
He said that the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and nation support the Iranian government and nation on their resistance to the sanctions.
