Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that the fight against terrorism needs regional action as the whole region is going through a difficult time.
"The Middle East's countries need to work together to avoid further bloodshed in the region," Rouhani added, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on October 4.
He made the remarks in a phone conversation with Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
"Collective coordination and cooperation are required to bring peace and security back to the region," the Iranian president said, adding that national sovereignty of every country should be respected.
He went on to note that no action should be taken in any country without prior coordination with its government.
The Qatari emir, for his part, said that the current conflict in the region is not a sectarian dispute between Shia and Sunni Muslims.
"Both Shias and Sunnis are suffering from terrorism," he added.
