Iran's goal is to expand and develop relations with Russia, Iranian Ambassador in Moscow Mehdi Sanaei said Nov.12. at a meeting of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti reported.

"Iran takes a principled position on relations with Russia," he said. "Tehran is now holding a serious dialogue with the West. The president (Hassan Rouhani) has a principled approach towards relations with Russia. Our goal is to expand them."

Sanaei expressed hope that both the recently signed agreements between the two countries in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, and boosting economic cooperation will contribute to it.

"We have many projects on industry, transport, issues of export and import from Iran and Russia, as well as the construction of six units of coal stations, in addition to Bushehr station power units, and many other projects in different areas," said Sanaei.

"Russia and Iran have common views on international relations," Sanaei said. "Our countries disagree with unilateral approaches. The unipolar world will bring nothing positive."
