Tehran, Iran, Dec. 30
By Milad Fashtami - Trend:
The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said that Iran will support the Iraqi government.
"Even one inch of Iraqi soil should not remain under the control of Takfiri terrorists," he said, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported Dec. 30.
"The terrorist's goal is to spread Islamophobia and destroy Iraq's financial and human resources," he explained.
"Currently the terrorists are weaker than ever. If the extra-regional countries stop supplying funds and weapons to them, soon the Iraqi lands will be freed," Shamkhani added.
He made the remarks at a meeting with Iraq's Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi.
al-Obeidi is currently in Tehran for an official visit. He has already held several meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials, including his counterpart Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan.
