No Iranian boats detained in Yemen - navy commander

A Navy commander in Yemen denied media claims over detention of four Iranian boats in its territorial waters calling it totally baseless, the official news agency (Sabanet) reported on Thursday, IRNA reported.

Quoting navy sources, the Yemeni agency's report said the unfounded news was disseminated by opposition elements.

'Four Iranian fishing boats were stranded near Saqtari shores and were provided refuge by Yemen Navy,' said Red Sea port's navy base commander Colonel Ali Ahmad.

He stressed that the boats were not violating any laws and were only sailing for fishing.

The navy commander urged the media to be careful of their reporting and not harm Yemen's national interests.
