Tehran, Iran, July 14

By Temkin Jafarov, Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

After a nuclear deal was reached between Iran and the group 5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany), Islamic Republic officials are hopeful that ways are open to reconstruction.

"We are hopeful to use the situation to conduct economic and infrastructural reconstruction," Mansour Haqiqatpour, second deputy chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told Trend July 14.

"I think the agreement is a constructive deal and we managed to force our positions on the opposite side on many grounds," he said, adding as an example that Iran's nuclear sites are mostly preserved through the deal.

Pointing to the economic side of the deal, he said that it opens the gate for European countries which have stood in line to find a place in Iran's oil, gas, and petrochemical industries.

"These companies have just realized how they were fooled by the US, because for 12 years they stood by and had to bear the loss inflicted by the sanctions," he said.

"A heavy wave of European entrepreneurs have been holding talks since months ago, and it seems in the coming months we will witness their huge investments in oil, gas, and petrochemicals."

Iran and the six powers reached a comprehensive deal on the country's nuclear program earlier the day.

The deal is expected to result in the removal of economic sanctions on Iran which have hurt the country greatly.

Many oil, gas, and petrochemical companies attending the Iran Oil Show 2015 in May told Trend they were hopeful to find their place in the lush Iranian market.
