Boosting relations with neighbors Iran's top priority after deal - Rouhani

President Hassan Rouhani underlined on Saturday that with a nuclear deal now in place, Iran's top priority is expansion of ties with the neighboring countries, Irna reported.

Speaking during a phone conversation with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Rouhani said, 'We have to join hands to prevent the activities of Takfiri terrorist groups.'

Development of regional countries depends on guaranteeing regional security, the president said, calling for collective efforts by all regional governments to prevent Takfiri terrorist groups from making further advances.

Congratulating the Qatari emir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr (the fast breaking feast), Rouhani referred to a nuclear accord recently reached between Iran and the six world powers and said Iran deal underlined that regional issues and differences among countries have to be resolved on the table.

'I have no doubt that now after the deal, we will soon witness more friendly relations and enhanced cooperation between Iran and Qatar,' Rouhani said.

Meanwhile, the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, said he was happy with the agreement reached over Tehran's nuclear program and believed that dialogue is the only way out of regional problems.

He hailed President Rouhani's role in the nuclear deal and said he was certain the deal could help the settlement of other regional problems.
