Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged the country's military forces to boost its capability regularly.

"You have to be aware of all the vulnerabilities and plans of enemies and always boost your preparedness and capabilities in order to be able to face all kinds of threats," Khamenei said, the leader's official website reported.

He made the remarks in meeting with a group of high-ranking commanders of the Islamic Republic's Khatam ol-Anbiya air defense base on September 1.

Tehran regularly announces military advances that cannot be independently verified. Iranian media outlets report that Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems in recent years.

Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes.
