Zarif arrives in Vienna to attend Syria peace talks

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the Austrian capital on Saturday evening at the head of a delegation to attend the Syrian peace talks, Irna reported.

The third round of Syrian peace talks is underway in Vienna with participation of top officials from 17 countries, including Iran, and representatives from the United Nations and the European Union.

A fresh round of diplomatic efforts to settle five years of conflict in Syria is following a one-day expert-level meeting held on Friday.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Vienna on Friday.

Amir-Abdollahian and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius met in Vienna on Saturday on the sidelines of Syrian peace talks to express condolence to the French government and nation on the heavy magnitude deaths caused by terrorism.
